Directions

Below is a set of directions.  Re-write the directions in your own words in the comments below.  Also, write directions to your favorite activity in a separate comment.

Flying a Kite:

To fly a kite, you have to follow some simple, fun steps.  The first step that you should take when flying a kite is getting a kite.  You can build a kite, but we will skip how to do that today.  Now that you have your kite, take the kite to a location where there is plenty of wind and space.  Both of these ingredients are major components of kite flying.  Some examples of great places to fly a kite are beaches or open fields by rivers.  When you have found your spot to fly the kite, hold the string of the kite in front of you with your back to the wind.  Then, turn your back toward the kite, hold your hand up and run directly into the wind.  This act will put the kite into the air, and it should catch the wind and pull away from you.  Hold on tight to the string!  Once the kite has caught the wind, keep tension on the string of the kite and let it out little by little.  When you're ready to finish flying, gradually pull the string back in the opposite direction.  That is all it takes to fly a kite!

Writing to Learn strategies say that we should challenge ourselves to express, in writing, both sides of an issue to fully understand it.

Twitter Responses

In this exercise, respond to one tweet that expresses either summary, comparison, or observation about the subject in the original tweet.  You are not obligated to respond, and your response will not be graded.  The cool thing is that your response will be considered and thought about by others who read the tweet's responses!  You are a part of a worldwide writing collaboration in 140 characters!!
